STILL LIFES
Still life painting is, at its heart, a study in attention — the discipline of looking closely at a simple arrangement of objects and finding within it colour, light, texture, and composition worth capturing. These still life paintings focus on fruit and bowls, subjects I return to repeatedly because they offer so much variation in tone, reflection, and the relationship between warm and cool colour. From the larger, more complex arrangements to the small, intimate fruit studies that work beautifully as a grouped collection, all are original oil paintings painted in my Winchester studio. Still life paintings are remarkably versatile in the home — they suit kitchens, dining rooms, hallways, and studies equally well, and at a range of price points there is something here for most budgets.
Still Life of Lemons in a Turquoise Bowl- Original Painting
This original still life oil painting features lemons arranged in a turquoise bowl against a muted grey background. The composition focuses on light, shadow, and colour contrast, with the bright yellow fruit standing out against the cooler tones of the bowl and surrounding space.
Painted in oil on board, the work uses careful tonal balance and controlled brushwork to create a clean and contemporary still life composition. The painting combines traditional still life subject matter with a modern colour palette and simplified arrangement.
This artwork would suit kitchens, dining areas, or modern interiors looking for original still life paintings with strong colour contrast and minimal composition.

Cherries in a Bowl - Original Oil Painting
This original still life oil painting depicts a bowl filled with cherries arranged against a soft neutral background. The deep red tones of the fruit contrast with the pale ceramic bowl and controlled lighting, creating a balanced and understated composition.
Painted in oil on board, the work focuses on texture, tonal variation, and subtle reflections across the fruit and bowl surface. The composition draws from traditional still life painting while maintaining a simple and contemporary presentation.
This painting would suit kitchens, dining spaces, or collectors looking for original still life oil paintings with classic subject matter and modern styling.

Lemons and Oranges in a Bowl
Oil on Board. 310 x 230 mm
A small and beautifully balanced still life — lemons and oranges arranged in a bowl, with the warm yellows and oranges of the fruit working in harmony against the cooler tones of the bowl and background. The modest scale makes this an ideal piece for a smaller wall, a kitchen shelf display, or as part of a grouped arrangement.
Painted in oil on board with careful attention to light and colour. Original oil painting by Mike Dudfield.

Satsumas in a Blue Bowl
Oil on Board. 297 x 210 mm
A small, intimate still life of satsumas arranged in a blue bowl — the orange of the fruit and the blue of the bowl working together as a classic complementary colour pairing. The modest size makes it an easy piece to place anywhere, and its warmth and simplicity suit a kitchen, dining room, or hallway equally well.
Original oil painting by Mike Dudfield.

Tangerines in Bowl
Oil on Board. 297 x 210 mm
Warm orange tangerines fill a bowl in this small, cheerful still life. The painting focuses on colour and light rather than elaborate composition — the fruit catches the light naturally and the background is kept simple to let the colour of the subject speak.
A modest and genuinely pleasing piece at an accessible price point. Original oil painting by Mike Dudfield.
£150
Plums in Bowl
Oil on Board. 297 x 210 mm
Deep purple plums rest in a decorated bowl in this quietly elegant small still life. The rich tones of the fruit — almost jewel-like against the lighter background — give the painting an understated luxury, and the decorated bowl adds a second layer of visual interest to the composition.
A lovely piece on its own or as part of a small still life grouping. The three small fruit paintings — satsumas, tangerines, and plums — work particularly well hung together. Original oil painting by Mike Dudfield.
